Bend It Better

Apologies for the lack of action around here. Re-adjusting to reality after our holiday has been a real dog. Real life eh? What a pain.

But I’m still booking and delivering lessons and life goes on. I will get back on the website treadmill too, there’s plenty of stuff happening out of sight – you’ll have to trust me on that.

As you’ll know if you have private lessons with me, I use and recommend a piece of software called Harp Ninja. It’s a great tool that you can install on your phone, tablet, laptop or PC. It will show you in real-time the notes you are playing on the harmonica, and crucially, how far out of tune you are!

This is priceless feedback when you’re struggling to get your bends on point and it works great. Unfortunately, it’s not free, and the price tag does put a lot of people off.

The new Bend it Better app from J.P. Allen does exactly the same thing. It’s free and it’s a web app so there’s nothing to install and you can use it on any device with a web browser.

There’s a lot of info from J.P. himself on the page and the videos linked from it so I won’t go into it too much. As students of the harmonica, we are extremely fortunate to be living in an era where there is so much information and so many great learning tools available. If you’re not making use of them you only have yourself to blame!
