The harp players spot in Willie Nelson’s touring and recording band must be one of the best gigs going. Mickey Raphael has been at it for decades.

He has a unique style and blends wonderfully with Willie’s unpredictable guitar and vocals. This is a great little profile which serves well as a primer for the uninitiated.

Here he is playing with The Old Crow Medicine Show. What’s cool about this clip is how he compliments the fiddle. That’s a trick because the harmonica and fiddle occupy a very similar sonic space.
